Where is Ghislaine Maxwell?

While Ghislaine Maxwell is officially serving a 20-year sentence in federal custody, recent reports and whistleblower claims have fueled intense public debate regarding whether she is actually confined to her cell 24/7 or is receiving unprecedented “out of prison” privileges.

Some reports, citing internal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) records, claim Maxwell’s custody level was marked as “OUT,” a designation typically reserved for inmates allowed to leave a minimum-security facility for off-site work assignments or programs. According to these reports, Maxwell may have received a “Public Safety Factor” (PSF) waiver. Under normal BOP policy, sex offenders are strictly barred from minimum-security camps and work-release programs, but this waiver would theoretically allow her to bypass those rules.

In July 2025, Maxwell reportedly spent time “beyond the steel bars” to meet with Department of Justice officials at a Florida courthouse rather than within the prison itself.
